vessels of mercy

We started 2013 with a bang or more like a huge BLUH stomach virus. I am just now able to be up and feel somewhat back to normal. I really haven't even considered that a new year is upon us. I am thinking today about how a holy, perfect God could love such pitiful sinners such as myself. God is teaching me that he is a kind, merciful Father who forgives and lavishes his love on us even when we don't deserve it. Truthfully, we would never deserve anything from God anyway. If we got what we deserved we'd all be in hell. That God would save just one of us is a true act of grace. Let us not waste time trying to muster up our own strength to make this year what we want it to be, but may we humbly sit at the foot of your cross praying for your will to be done in our lives each and every day. Turn our gaze to your body, your sacrifice, your Resurrection and not to our bodies our our lives. May our gaze be ever on you and your glorious name! Even in our sickness we can think upon you and be reminded that one day you will do away with it all. Not just for our good but ultimately for your glory. Our suffering here is by your hand, and may we be glad in it and be able to see you in all things. If your perfect holy Son suffered on a terrible cross, and many of your disciples were martyred for their faith, why would our lives be any different? We actually suffer so little because our faith is so small. Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed be your name! Your kingdom come! Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven!! May this be the plea of our hearts for this new year.

Long Time A Comin"
Ok, so it's been almost two years since I have posted anything aywhere. Well in short, I have this wierdness in my head (no surprise, right?) that makes me feel like I am writing to impress people, and it hangs over my head like a heavy sack of potatoes. I want to write simply to have a journal of my life with my Savior and to tell of all of His grace he works into this stubborn heart of mine on a daily, minute by minute basis. If some of you are encouraged along the way, then I rejoice that God has been kind to this wretch of a child to use these words in that way.
I hardly doubt that I can remember what has gone on in my life for the past two years, but I know there have been some amazing things that God has done. The latest kindness he has bestowed upon us is allowing us to adopt a little girl, which is sweet number 5. WOW! Five kids to raise in the admonition of the Lord. I am secretly still holding out for a number 6, but don't tell my hubs because I have said that for numbers 2-5. He thinks I will never have enough. He's probably right. I must be content with what God has given me.
Our adoption story is nothing less that God doing an amazing work in our lives!!! Our plan was not to adopt but to foster as many kids as God brought our way. Well, He had other plans for us, praise his name!! Zari was about our 11th foster child, and we were planning on having her for about a week or two or until an adoptive family was found for her. Well, a family was found!! We just did not know we were that family! This was a fifteen month process from start to finish, with God confirming his plan all the way. God caused many scary, humbling things to happen all along the way that seemed (or so we thought) to alter the course of adoption, but in retrospect God was throwing all obstacles out of the way and changing our hearts in the process. His grace is all sufficient.

Keep my eyes fixed upon you Lord. My heart seems to be failing within me. Daily I run to you Lord, although I fear not fast enough. I still run at a pace that allows for distractions and idols. Lord forgive me and hold my feet steady on your path. Give me grace and hope and faith in unmeasurable quantities. Pour out your Spirit upon me in wisdom and love. Cause my heart to soar in your presence. Take me to that Presence Lord that I may abide there with You all the days of my life. Lord hold me strong in your grip.
